REVIEW | Nuvit Daily Defender Lightweight Moisturizing Sunscreen – A Catch! Author: Rinn Asri Source: https://blog.hermo.my/2020/10/18/review-nuvit-daily-defender-lightweight-moisturizing-sunscreen-a-catch/ Have you heard of this brand Nuvit? It is a growing brand with a varied skincare line that is getting more and more established. They are committed in pursuing “Authentic Beauty”, emphasizing on professionalism, reliability, sincerity and purity as their brand mission. Nuvit believes that only the cleanest and purest elements can nurture the finest skin, unleashing the confidence and inner glow within. I have tried their Moistloc Range (so impressed! Especially the Hydrating Toner) and now their sunscreen, Daily Defender Lightweight Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF50+ Ingredients Water, Propanediol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isononyl Isononanoate, Titanium Dioxide,Caprylyl Methicone, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Polyacrylate-13, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Butylene Glycol, Benzophenone-3, Polysorbate 60, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, Polyisobutene, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetyl Phosphate, Phospholipids, Ethylhexylglycerin, o-Cymen-5-ol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polysorbate 20, Arginine, Sorbitan Isostearate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Diisopropyl Adipate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Lecithin, Acrylic Acid/Acrylamidomethyl Propane Sulfonic Acid Copolymer, Dimethylmethoxy Chromanol, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Glyceryl Caprylate, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Xanthan Gum, Ceramide NP, Phytosphingosine, Ceramide AP, Cholesterol, Carbomer, Ceramide EOP It is free from bad alcohol, fragrance, and essential oils if any of these is a concern to you. This is a hybrid sunscreen as it uses both physical (titanium dioxide) & chemical sun protection agents (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, & Benzophenone-3). Nuvit calls this Photo-Shield technology which protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays that are super harmful and can cause us photoaging, malignant melanoma, sunburn, and many more. This also contains great humectants (moisturizer ingredient that helps your skin to cling onto water and hold onto it so that your skin feels nicely moisturized, according to incidecoder) such as propanediol & sodium hyaluronate, along with a handful of emollients (ingredients that make your skin soft, smooth and lovely, also according to incidecoder) which are Cyclopentasiloxane, Isononyl Isononanoate, Caprylyl Methicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Phospholipids, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Diisopropyl Adipate, Lecithin, Glyceryl Caprylate, and Cholesterol. Texture and Smell This hybrid sunscreen has this typical sunscreen smell but it is nothing overpowering. The texture is really lightweight and spreads nicely and blends well into the skin. To be honest the texture really exceeded my expectation because it feels wonderful and so moisturising. The formula doesn’t feel heavy at all and I can feel it settling into my skin nicely. It also does not leave any sticky or greasy feeling and no white cast on my skin. How to Use: Application and Reapplication This goes last in your morning skincare step: water-based/first cleanser – toner – essence – serum – moisturiser or day cream – Nuvit Daily Defender Lightweight Moisturizing Sunscreen. Dermatologists and aestheticians suggest us to apply sunscreen in the amount of at least two fingers like this: And please please do not forget to reapply every two to three hours. How to reapply this sunscreen, you may ask. Well honestly for me, my skin can get really oily on the nose and forehead so I prefer to use a sunscreen spray for reapplication purpose. I rarely slather any sunscreen liquid or cream or gel or stick on my face to reapply, be it with or without makeup on top. If you are wearing makeup and would love to reapply using this Nuvit Daily Defender Lightweight Moisturizing Sunscreen, I would suggest you to at least remove the makeup using a micellar water or a makeup remover wipe if you find cleansing oil to be messy for at-the-office or outdoor reapplication. If you are not wearing makeup, please try and see whether this sunscreen clogs your pores and causes breakout. If it doesn’t, then you can just put this on without worries. Experience As I use a lot of sunscreen I love to know that this one is free from bad alcohol that can be drying, and I find essential oils and fragrance unnecessary so I prefer my sunscreen without them. This sunscreen feels so comfortable on my combination skin, it feels moisturising but not heavily so my skin is not suffocated or clammy especially if I have applied thicker moisturiser beforehand. I just love how it feels light but moisturising. I experienced no pilling, no breakout, no itchiness, no irritation or redness or anything. This goes with all of my moisturisers and it performs well both on its own and under makeup. This makes a great prep for makeup application especially if you are going for a matte look because this will moisturise your skin but not too much, just enough so that the matte foundation or powder will not cling on to your flaky or dry patch. But I for more assurance I would prefer to use primer always. This is just for daily light makeup look, perhaps? For when you don’t want to spend too much time getting ready. This also feels comfy both indoor & outdoor, both under the sun & in an air-conditioned room. It does not sting my eyes when I get sweaty, and to be frank this sunscreen really wows me. I feel like Nuvit knows how hot and humid the weather in Malaysia is and tries to make it work for that condition while at the same time giving the best sun protection and keeping skin healthy. I tried to nitpick for any weakness but couldn’t find any. What more with the affordable price tag. Really good, this one! My rate: 5/5 Would definitely repurchase!
